The seven Sacraments are the core of the Catholic faith and the cornerstone of Christian community.  All the Sacraments are instruments of faith, because through the sacred words and prayers and ceremonies, people are instructed in spirituality, and are nourished and strengthened to profess and practice their faith as did the apostles and disciples in the original days of the Church.

Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist are called Sacraments of Christian Initiation.  The Sacrament of Reconciliation and the Annointing of the Sick are Sacraments of Healing, and Matrimony and Holy Orders are called Sacraments of Commitment.

The objective of Faith Formation is to prepare new members for the Sacraments, instructing them in the Catholic beliefs.  The focus of the Liturgy Ministry is on making the Sacraments meaningful and richly personal to those participating. The goal of Outreach Ministry is to put beliefs into action by loving and assisting those around us in our families, our communities and around the world.

Adults as well as children receive the Sacraments, and religious as well as lay parishioners provide essential components in the Sacramental process.

If you have not celebrated the Sacraments of Confirmation and or Eucharist
and would like to do so, you are most welcome to become a member of the Adult Sacramental Preparation group, which meets once a month for about an hour. Those who participate in this process celebrate the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist on Pentecost Sunday.

If you have never been baptized and are interested in finding our more about the Roman Catholic Tradition of Faith you are invited to consider the Rite
of Christian Initiation for Adults (RICA). Please call Fr. Steve at (516)767-0781.
