Preparation to receive the sacrament of Confirmation is a two-year process.  It builds on the consistent catechesis received in grades 1-7.   Weekly classes for preparation to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation will begin in 8th grade.

At the end of the 7th grade, parents will be informed about Confirmation preparation in 8th and 9th grades.  Each student’s knowledge of their faith, as well as their commitment to the process, will be assessed before entering the Confirmation classes.

8th grade students will attend weekly classes on Monday evening from 7-8: 15 PM using the chosen curriculum for Confirmation preparation.  In addition to the regular weekly instruction, parents, sponsors and students will be able to journey together through different experiences of prayer, liturgy, Christian Ministry Service and reflection on their faith.  Materials will be provided each year for families/sponsors to help foster that process.  A retreat will also be held for the 8th grade students to deepen their experience on this journey.

In 9th grade, candidates will attend scheduled classes each month, as well as meet with a Faith Partner once a month.  This gives the candidate the opportunity to have a dialog with an adult parishioner about their faith life and Confirmation preparation.  This will help demonstrate their readiness to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.  The 9th grade candidates will also participate in experiences of prayer, liturgy, Christian Ministry Service and reflection, as well as a retreat as they prepare to receive the sacrament of Confirmation.
